Mirage hags are drawn to regions of heat and scarcity, such as deserts, where they feast on the desires of desperate travellers. They resemble old women with leathery, blistering skin and  horns jutting out from both sides of their ridged forehead, scarcely dressed and seemingly unbothered by the heat. 

Mirage hags feed on desire and desperation. They lure travellers with elaborate illusions of food, shade, water, or whatever else someone might be desperately in need of. Once they have drawn someone to their lair, they might exact binding promises from their victims, only for the latter to discover that what they bargained for is only an illusion. Particularly cunning mirage hags might go so far as to pose as beautiful desert oracles, attracting entire caravans of desperate individuals. While mirage hags generally tend to be skilled illusionists, they are also vein and greedy. The best way to defeat them is often to beat them at their own game and trick them with illusions of unwary victims and alluring gifts.
