Reef drakes are solitary amphibian predators that feed primarily on fish and make their lairs in coastal coral reefs. Their physicality takes after their environments, as the spines on their back take on formations unique to each drake that resemble growths of coral. As a reef drake ages, its body slowly calcifies, and all reef drakes eventually die as their corpses are subsumed into the reefs in which they lair. 

Occasionally, when reef drakes lack sufficient marine food sources, they will surface on land to hunt insects and small mammals. Reef drakes generally avoid humanoid populations unless provoked, at which point they will defend themselves and their territory viciously.
